European Game Releases [27/6/08]

On Friday, the game that convinced me no matter how to get a Wii finally hits Europe. After a hands on in March with US verison, me and Brendan walked away very impressived with the game.

Now, after the game’s release in Japan in January and in America in March, Super Smash Bros. Brawl finally comes to Europe and the UK this Friday so if you imported it from America, best put it on eBay now.

BUT…if you arent into a massive brawl but instead like a big massive battlefield well then, EA and DICE return with Battlefield: Bad Company for your pleasure. I highly enjoyed Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for the PS2, playing it off and online play as either US or Chineese forces. However, after playing the demo of Bad Company on Single Player, I’m not impressed with it but multiplayer was OK.

It was OK but it convinced me not to get it right away. Maybe its something I’ll wait on till the price drops. Also, Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy hits the PS3 and 360, Bejing 2008 on PS3 & 360, Command & Conquer: Kane’s Wrath for the Xbox 360 and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PS2.

There are so many games out this week, there are too many to name especially for the Wii so instead, we are just gonna mention those that may just be important.

Battlefield: Bad Company (PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360)
Bejing 2008 (PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360)
Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath (Xbox 360)
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 & Nintendo Wii)
Kung Fu Panda (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 & Nintendo Wii)
NASCAR 09 (PlayStation 3)
Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy (PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Nintendo Wii)

Our 3 to Look Out For

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: This is it. The reason why I got a Wii is finally out and it’ll be kicking ass more then ever. A story mode, a first for the series, called The Subspace Emissary with 35 different characters to play, a couple of them making their bows in the series including Sonic, Pit from Kid Icarus, Wario and of course, good old Solid Snake. Think you seen the last of him in Guns of the Patriots? You thought wrong my friend. Also, 29 stages unlocked from the get go including brand new ones, one of which I got a hands on with in March was Shadow Moses from Metal Gear Solid.

Plus, with drop in drop out online play (If you drop out, the computer will play for you and you wont even know if that person has dropped out)

Overall, if you have a Wii, get this game.

Battlefield: Bad Company: It could be anything like Battlefield 2 Modern Combat for the PS2 but sadly it aint, instead you in B-Company. Hopefully, the online community has stayed the same from BF2 to BF:BC.

I wasnt too impressed with the story mode but of course, that was just one level so that could change but this isnt one I’m gonna get at laucnh. But I really like the fact that everything (or least most things) is now completely destructable.

Credit given to DICE, they really have taken a long time to perfect this game and push it out the dorr and let Bad Company live on its own two feet and have done a decent job for it. Lets hope that they make an even better game this year in Mirror’s Edge.

Robert Lidlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy: He maybe on the box but sadly, there is no Matt Damon in the game, voice or likeness wise because he though the game was too violent.

O RLY? Try Gears of War.

Anyways, if you watched the movies before (I havent sadly, may ask for a DVD boxset of them at christmas as I heard they are all very good), you’ll know that the game is based on the 3rd move The Bourne Conspiracy.

So far, the reviews for the game have been…mixed. According to the meta on N4G, the web reviews for it are at 7.5 while the user meta has been at 8.0 (No trouble for MGS4 then at 9.6/9.9) but maybe The Bourne Conspiracy is what is needed to break the mold of bad movie tie ins? We’ll see.

Oh, interesting fact for you. Brian Cox who plays a character in two of the Bourne movies, The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy? He played Emperor Scolari in Killzone and will play him again in Killzone 2.

Next week…well, it is starting to dry up for a bit. For the first time since the release of Ninja Gaiden 2, there is no big massive blockbuster release. The only big release next week is Buzz: Quiz TV for the PlayStation 3 with the only other big release bing for the PSP, echochrome.

Oh dear.
