killzone-2

4 years after that infamous trailer at E3 2005, Killzone 2 has finally launched in Europe, the UK and the US.

We wont know official numbers for the game till the second week of March when NPD publish the charts for February 2009 but SCEA has said that the pre-orders for the game tops that of any other big first party game such as Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue but no exact figures were given.

Meanwhile, SCEE has said pre-orders for the game were over 1 million which should see the game go to No. 1 in most EU countries including the UK.

SCEA have published a press release on today, read it after the jump.

According to the latest issue of Famitsu which has just jumped onto the internet, the recently revealed Lost Planet 2 from Capcom will be an Xbox 360 exclusive with no PLAYSTATION 3 verison confirmed in the issue.

This is somewhat of a surprise if true as Capcom took a multiplatform stance on all games since 2006 with notible exceptions like Dead Rising for the Wii.

However, more info is coming on the game later on this afternoon. By that, we mean a press release with new info and some screens to boot.

The game was revealed on Monday with Kenji Orugo as the game’s director and producer duties going to Resident Evil 5 producer, Jun Takeuchi.

Scans after the jump.

Some new info has emerged of Assassins Creed 2 and they sound juicy and actually plausable.

Destructoid managed to get some info from the game and we’ll pointing out the main info bits that were in the post.

  • Jade Raymond wont be as involved in this one as she was in AC1, similar to Ken Levine and Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams.
  • The game will take place in the 15th/16th century.
  • It’ll place in Venice.
  • Your blade, hidden in your index finger in AC1, returns.
  • The story may revolve around a family feud.
  • Disguises may play a part in the game.
  • The main character is apparently called Enzo which rules out Altiar.
  • Will be shown off this year at a games expo, unconfirmed if its GDC or E3.
  • Could be out late this year/early next year.

It comes back off the heals of an announcement today from Sony announcing a brand new story for Assassins Creed coming to the PSP.

The full details are below.

Capcom revealed a while back that they would be announcing a brand new game over Xbox Live Marketplace. Well, today was that day, question was which was they’d reveal? Dead Rising 2 was out so was it a new Devil May Cry? Nope, it was Lost Planet 2.

The footage on Marketplace kicked off with a word from producer of the 1st Lost Planet as well as the producer for LP2 and producer on Resident Evil 5 Jun Takeuchi before showing off the first ever footage of the game which was entirely all in game and real time.

Kenji Orugo is the game’s director, with Takeuchi producing.

First Image from Codemasters New F1 Game… Sort of

Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , , , on February 23, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

f1-20091
Codemasters have sneakingly released the first asset for the new Formula One game they have in development for the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360.

The game, the first F1 game not being made by Sony after losing the licence to Codemasters, is due for this year and will have all of the teams (still standing I mean after the loss of Super Aguri and Honda), all of the drivers (including Lewis Hamilton) and all of the tracks (including the new Singapore night circuit).

In the asset given out, it’s a dev shot which shows (if I remember correctly, jump in if I get the corner wrong) Turn 4 of Spa in Belguim which hosts the Belgan Grand Prix.

The full asset is after the jump.

GDC 2009: Fumito Ueda to Be at GDC 2009

Posted in GDC 2009, PlayStation 3 with tags , , , , on February 22, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

team-icoVG247 has pointed the way to a page on the Game Developers Website which shows a joint semninar featuring Grasshoper Studios Suda 51, creator of No More Heroes and Killer 7, and Fumito Ueda the studio head of Team ICO, who made the classics ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

Now this may not be as big on paper but considering the appearence of Ueda at GDC, it can only mean that Sony are ready to show the next Team ICO game for the PLAYSTATION 3 and will either show it at GDC or tease it there with a full reveal at E3 in June.

The semninar, called “Evolving Game Design: Today and Tomorrow, East and West Game Design” will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Which part of the center and what time and date we dont know but it will be an hour long and will obviously take place during March 23rd – March 27th when GDC takes place.

Now you have Ueda plus Suda and Hideo Kojima as well as Peter Molyneux and Satoru Iwota, surely several megatons are coming out of this, right?

killzone-2

Whats out on disc this week? Lets find out shall we?

At long long last, it’s finally here. Probably the most antcipated title this generation by far finally touches down and guess what, we’re finally (and I mean finally) gonna get Killzowned.

Killzone 2 is finally released for the PLAYSTATION 3 this week but surprise surprise, it has to go up against Halo but it aint Halo 4, oh no. It’s going against an RTS Halo, not an FPS Halo. Halo Wars is also finally out this week after a long wait with Wars also being Ensemble Studios last hurrah.

But hold your horses Wii fans, your not getting left out of the cold with big releases, oh  no! Wii’s biggest release this week is Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop which is a port of the original verison which went to the Xbox 360.

As well as all them lot though, you also get Silent Hill: Homecoming which was released in America last year but got a severe delay in Europe up until this point.

Full list is after the jump.
