iPlayer on Xbox 360 Delayed

Posted in Xbox 360 with tags on November 29, 2009 by James Love

According to sources who’ve spoken to the Telegraph, a deal between the BBC and Microsoft has been unable to be reached due to Microsoft’s strategy of charging for content on Live, which the BBC feel they cannot charge for as access to the iPlayer as it is already included in the licence fee.

“Microsoft only wants to offer its users access to platforms it can charge for as this is the model it is pursuing. It wants to ensure that only those paying for Xbox Live Gold accounts can access its additional content services and even then there is usually a charge on top to get access to those. For example, to access the Sky Player on Xbox, you have to pay for a Gold subscription as well as a Sky subscription,” explained one source close to the BBC.

“It is really frustrating for those involved on the BBC side who want to make sure iPlayer is rolled out on as many popular entertainment platforms as possible,” they added.

A BBC spokesman said: “BBC iPlayer has been extremely successful on PS3 and we recently re-launched on Nintendo Wii, from which the public response has been fantastic. People clearly want the BBC iPlayer on their gaming consoles, and we don’t think Xbox users are any different.”

GOONL!NE Exclusive: PixelJunk Shooter – New Screens and Video

Posted in PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, PlayStation Store with tags , on November 29, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

We got our hands on Q-Games’  PixelJunk Shooter this week.

Ooh-ah, we see you are green with envy!

So when can you get your hands on the game? Well, we can’t say. Why? Because we don’t know. We asked Sony earlier this week after giving us the game, but they still couldn’t tell us anything.

That said, we reckon it’s pretty close. We’ll have our review of the game going live tomorrow, but until then, see James play poorly rubbish at it with nine new gameplay videos and a shitload of shots, over 30 in fact. Get them after the break.

Second FFXIII Commercial Hits the Web

Posted in Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Launch Portal, PlayStation 3, Square Enix with tags on November 28, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

Final Fantasy XIII is close.

Very close. As in so close, you can smell it’s new game smell from this distance. The bad news is that it’s for Japan.

It hits on December 17, and already the TV commericals are already hitting the TV screens. The first one you can find here from our friends at UFFS, but the second you can find here after the jump.

In it, it shows a school class and its teacher. The teacher (we think) says he’s going to be taking the day off tomorrow, with the class asking why. The teacher says in his head (again, we think) he’s been waiting for this for three years. Obviously for the game, innit.

Anyways, ad is after the jump.
